DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH HERBS AND ALCHEMY?
This course is open to all levels of knowledge and experience. Whether you are a seasoned herb user or an herb curious beginner, we are all here to learn and share knowledge. The course is appropriate for all levels of knowledge.
Hands-on workshops daily; harvesting, processing herbs, infusing oils, distilling fresh plants, creating salves, creams and shampoos. You have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of medicinal herbs and botanicals to create your own skincare products. We discuss the use of the biodynamic lunar calender in the harvesting and processing of medicinales. We have an Ecoprint-botanical impression workshop at a nearby farm where we use the fresh leaves we gather to naturally transfer the botanical image to a tote bag.
There is an excursion to the local wood-fired bread oven where our daily bread is be baked.
We partake in a dinner at the local wood-fired pizza oven in town where we enjoy a private flamenco dance concert complete with a flamenco basics workshop.
We visit a local organic artisan distillery/museum to see their distilling process.
We visit another local farm for an herbal soap creating workshop and see yet another distillery, this time essential oils.
You receive a notebook to take your own notes and a recipe book including the creations covered in the course to take home with you.
Traditional local meals are prepared daily at the farmhouse.
WHAT WILL BE COVERED IN THE COURSE?
IS THERE A PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENT?
We are in rural Spain with abundant access to hiking trails and outdoor activities. Opportunities for exercise in the great outdoors are plentiful, but optional. To participate in most harvesting outings and our excursion to the local bakery each participant will want to feel comfortable with a one mile round trip hike on moderate hiking trails.
All activities and meals are included in the price, and all participation is voluntary.
All materials for the course will be included.
You will need to pack luggage for a week away in the hills.
A rain jacket is a good idea in case we get wet weather.
A good pair of lace up walking shoes for hiking trails is recommended.
Having a flashlight or headlamp is always helpful.

In hand, you return home with salve, solid shampoo, facial tonic, face cream, salt scrub, body butter, soap, lip balm, and an eco-print tote bag.... all made by you.
Plus a bound recipe book and your own notebook full of notes.
All handmade cosmetics are carry-on safe, but an option of shipping your goodies home is available.
We all meet in Seville on the afternoon of April 12th. Transportation will be provided, just over an hour drive, to the Spanish foothills where we will be spending the week. We have a van on hand at all times to move between locations during our stay and we will return to Seville on departure day, April 19th.
